We love Bitcoin

The deeper Rob got into Bitcoin, and the more I practiced and explored unschooling, the more we noticed the striking parallels between the two.

At their core, both are about freedom of choice—the freedom to decide how we live, learn, and use our time and money.

Unschooling supports children in becoming their own authority, trusting their inner compass instead of relying on external systems to tell them what, when, or how to learn. Bitcoin offers a similar kind of sovereignty: it gives individuals full control over their money, free from centralized manipulation.

Bitcoin is decentralized, meaning no single person or institution controls it. The supply can’t be inflated at will, and anyone can run a node to help secure the network. By contrast, fiat currencies are managed by central banks and governments, using tools like inflation and interest rates to influence the economy—often at our expense.

Just as Bitcoin is the only truly decentralized currency, unschooling is a kind of decentralized education—learning led from within, not imposed from above.

That said, A Place To Be isn’t only for Bitcoiners. We welcome families from all walks of life, and we fully support freedom of choice—including how you pay, whether in BTC or fiat. But yes, you’ll definitely meet quite a few Bitcoin families here. 😊

Some of them are featured below—friends and fellow Bitcoiners who’ve helped shape and support APTB along the way.
