2nd Topography Done by Drone
Hello there!
Time for a little update 🌿
Nothing major has happened — but we do have some excellent news to share!
At first, we were told that we could only build within the 90,000 m² area at the top of the map — the part where all the pretty buildings were drawn.
But during our last meeting, when our architect showed us the updated design — with all the houses, communal spaces, and natural structures — we noticed lots of green zones spreading across the map.
It made us wonder… does that mean we can build there too?
And guess what?!
We did get confirmation that we’re allowed to build on another 200,000 m²! 🎉
That’s more than double what we expected!
Our amazing organic farmer, Carlos, found a company that uses a drone-based topography system — the kind that can measure through trees and bushes.
This clever little machine saved us so much time, hassle, energy, and money.
You see, the first 100,000 m² had to be cleared by machines — meaning almost all the trees were taken down — and the rest had to be done by hand. It wasn’t exactly a quick or pleasant process… and we’ll need to replant many of those trees from scratch.
This time, though? The drone did the job in just a few hours — and for less than one-tenth of the original cost.
Even though flying the drone itself was super quick, the data processing is taking a few weeks.
We haven’t received the final file yet — once it’s ready, it’ll be handed to our architect, who will add it to the main design.
Originally, we planned to keep the neighborhood in the same area as in the previous version and use the new zones mainly for animals and greenhouses.
But after reviewing everything, our partners decided to extend the neighborhood and include more homes and communal structures in the newly available area.
That means the design phase will take a little longer — our architect is now aiming to submit everything to City Hall by the end of the year.
So yes, nothing “major” has happened — but this small piece of news feels like a huge step forward.
More space, less destruction, and a much smarter way to understand the land we’re caring for. 🌱
